According to the NCI website, funding for cancer research has ceased growth since 2003 and has stayed relatively stable at $4.9 billion. This, alongside increasing expenses of cancer research, means that the real value of the NCI budget is decreasing due to inflation, with the loss being as high as 25% since 2003. There is a real need to increase funding for cancer research, which is why we support ACS CAN’s initiative to increase federal research funding by $1 billion. You can help, too! Just sign the petition over at http://www.acscan.org/research.
